1. Who we are
Future Business Media is an independent digital business publication. Our website address is futurebusinessmedia.com.
This website is currently operated by Future Business Media, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We are in the process of incorporating a publishing company in the United Arab Emirates. When that company is established, it will take over operation of this website and responsibility for the personal information described in this policy. We will update this page before that transfer takes place.
For any question about this policy or your personal information, contact info@futurebusinessmedia.com.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers personal information we collect through this website. It does not cover other websites we link to, or the separate arrangements that apply when someone takes part in an interview or contributes editorial content. Those are handled by a separate consent form given to participants directly.
3. What we collect and why
3.1 When you contact us
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, phone number, postal address, a subject line and your message. Only the email address is required. Every other field is optional and the form works perfectly well if you leave them blank.
Submissions are delivered to our email inbox, which we run on Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. We use them only to respond to you and to keep a record of the correspondence.
We do not store contact form submissions in a database and we do not write their contents to our server logs. They exist as email. The form carries a simple automated spam check that collects nothing about you.
3.2 Technical information
This website is hosted on Microsoft Azure. Like almost all web servers, ours records technical information about requests: IP address, the page requested, the time, browser type, and referring page. This is used for security, diagnosing faults, and keeping the site working.
We run no analytics or telemetry of our own. We do not use this information to build a profile of you, and we do not use advertising or marketing analytics.
3.3 The digital magazine
Our magazine issues and published pieces are presented through Flipsnack, a third-party digital publishing platform.
No reader loads until you ask for one. The pages that list our work show cover images only and mount no reader at all. On the home page you pick a piece from the carousel and the reader appears. Opening an article, a feature, or the magazine page loads the reader for that publication, because opening the page is how you open the publication.
Once a reader loads, Flipsnack receives your IP address and information about your reading activity within the publication, and may set cookies in your browser. Flipsnack is an independent company and handles that information under its own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to read at flipsnack.com. Their servers are operated on Amazon Web Services.
If you would prefer to share nothing with Flipsnack, you can browse the home page and the listing pages without opening a publication. The rest of the site works normally.
4. Cookies
This website sets no cookies of its own. We use no advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or social media trackers.
Cookies set inside the Flipsnack reader are described in section 3.3 and are governed by Flipsnack’s policies, not ours.
5. Our legal basis for using your information
Where data protection law requires us to identify a legal basis:
- Contact form. We process your message to respond to your enquiry, at your request.
- Technical and server information. Our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and functioning.
- Flipsnack reader. Your consent, given by choosing to open a publication.
6. Who else sees your information
We share personal information only with the service providers who make this website work:
| Provider | What they handle | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Azure | Website hosting, server logs | Europe |
| Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace | Contact form emails | Europe |
| Flipsnack | Magazine reader, once you open a publication | Amazon Web Services |
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
We may disclose information if we are legally required to do so.
7. International transfers
We operate internationally, and the providers listed above store data in more than one country. Where personal information is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the transfer safeguards in those providers’ standard terms, which incorporate the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for details of the safeguards that apply.
8. How long we keep things
- Contact form emails. Twelve months from our last correspondence with you, then deleted.
- Server logs. Ninety days.
9. How we protect your information
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the contact inbox is limited to the people running the publication and protected by multi-factor authentication. We keep the number of places your information is stored deliberately small.
No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it
- have inaccurate information corrected
- have your information deleted
- withdraw consent you have given
- object to or restrict how we use your information
- receive your information in a portable format
To exercise any of these, email info@futurebusinessmedia.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you or make it difficult.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
11. Children
This is a business publication intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. If the change is significant, including the transfer of this website to the UAE publishing company described in section 1, we will say so clearly on this page.
